7:58 pm: We’ll have more backstage from James Cameron as soon as he gets here -- hopefully he won’t talk about the ‘magic of cinema’ or, worse, ask us to give it up for ourselves -- but suffice it to say that in about the space of a half-hour, ‘Avatar’ went from an Oscar X-factor to an Oscar frontrunner. Now the race -- and the Na’vi jokes -- get serious.
