Glendale elementary school gets ‘all clear’ after bomb threat

A Glendale elementary school evacuated because of a bomb threat has been deemed safe after a room-by-room search of the campus, authorities said Monday.
Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said an anonymous threat about a bomb was called into R.D. White Elementary School shortly before 9 a.m. School officials immediately notified police and began evacuating roughly 880 students to a nearby Whole Foods Market.
Police and fire officials searched ‘every inch’ of the campus but found no device, Lorenz said. An ‘all clear’ was issued about 11:45 a.m., and authorities turned the building back over to school officials.
Monday was the first day of classes after winter break. Lorenz said extra patrols were on hand Monday, and had been since the Dec. 14 elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
