A 40-year-old Redondo Beach man has been charged with raping a woman he met on a social network website, police said Tuesday.
Corey Delaine Stewart met the woman on Tagged.com and communicated with her for several weeks, according to the Gardena Police Department.
The victim allegedly agreed to meet Stewart last week ‘under the belief that he was setting her up for a job interview,’ police said in a statement.
Stewart allegedly ‘drove the victim to a residential neighborhood in Gardena and raped the victim at gunpoint,’ according to police. The woman told investigators that she couldn’t escape because the door handles and locks had been disabled.
Police said investigators suspect that Stewart may have worked with an accomplice to commit similar attacks and are asking anyone with information to call Det. Michael Ross at (310) 217-9635.
Stewart was being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
