SAG Awards: Kate Winslet wins for female actor in a TV movie or miniseries

Kate Winslet won the SAG Award for female actor in a television movie or miniseries Sunday for her role in HBO’s “Mildred Pierce.” Winslet plays title character Mildred Pierce, a Depression-era single mother who longs to provide her snobbish daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) with a better life.
Winslet beat out Diane Lane in HBO’s “Cinema Verite,” Maggie Smith in PBS’s “Downton Abbey,” Emily Watson in the Sundance Channel’s “Appropriate Adult” and Betty White in CBS’ “Hallmark Hall of Fame: The Lost Valentine.”
This is Winslet’s third win in 11 nominations, previously winning for female actor in a supporting role for her work in the films “Sense and Sensibility” and “The Reader.”

The actress was a no-show at the awards ceremony.
The 18th Screen Actors Guild Awards were broadcast nationwide by TNT and TBS from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
