Preston King of Tesoro, perhaps the best two-way player in the Southland last season, said Monday he’s leaning toward signing with San Diego State on Wednesday. It’s a relief for a senior who spent most of the season wondering if anyone would offer a scholarship.
‘It’s been really weird because in the beginning, it was tough,’ he said.
Recruiting picked up, with some schools hoping he’d walk on and others pursuing him. He’s likely to play defensive back at San Diego State while also returning punts.
His Tesoro teammate, quarterback Robbie Picazo, will join Stanford as a walk-on.
