Boys’ basketball: Fairfax leads after first quarter

Donte McFrazier had eight points and Solomon Hill seven to lead sixth-seeded Fairfax to an 18-14 lead over third-seeded Mater Dei at the end of the first quarter tonight in a Southern California regional quarterfinal at Mater Dei.

Fairfax center Renardo Sidney did not score but stayed in the game despite picking up his second foul with 1 minute 58 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Travis Wear had six points and twin brother David Wear five for Mater Dei.
