Baseball: El Camino Real pulls out win in ninth inning

Ivan Vela’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Woodland Hills El Camino Real to a 5-4 victory over Coronado in a San Diego Lions tournament game on Wednesday. The Conquistadores (12-4) advance to the semifinals on Thursday.

Sophomore Jose Cardona (5-0) picked up the victory in relief. Vela finished with two hits.

In another San Diego tournament game, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake (5-7-1) advanced to the semifinals of its bracket with an 18-6 win over San Pasqual. Austin Wilson hit a grand slam and Tommy Ufland went three for four.
