Football: Servite 16, LB Poly 7 at halftime

Long Beach Poly has been dominated in its game against Servite, but the Jackrabbits are still in the game after Michael Simmons scored on a nine-yard run with 46 seconds left in the second quarter, cutting their deficit to 16-7.

Poly didn’t get a first down until 9:55 left in the second quarter.

Servite defensive tackle Kirifi Taula is playing as if he’s going to use the game to put together a highlight tape. He’s dropped running back Cory Westbrook three times for losses. He has sacked quarterback Dylan Lagarde once.Poly was held to one yard in total offense until pass completions of 17 and 20 yards late in the second quarter got the Jackrabbits into scoring position

Servite quarterback Cody Fajardo has completed 14 of 18 passes for 126 yards. He connected on his first 11 passes. He has run for a touchdown and thrown for a touchdown.
