Football: Is it a forfeit or a no contest?

The City Section has put out a statement that Los Angeles Franklin will not have to forfeit its game last week against North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake when the Los Angeles Unified School District mandated that the game should not be played at Harvard-Westlake because of air-quality issues.

The City Section is calling the game a ‘no contest.’ Same for the canceled Eagle Rock-Verdugo Hills game.

Harvard-Westlake, however, will continue to consider the game as a forfeit, according to school spokesman Terry Barnum.

‘From our standpoint, we had a contract with Franklin and the Los Angeles Unified School District, and they failed to live up to the contract, and we’re calling it a forfeit,’ Barnum said.
