Carson took a big step toward helping itself gain a high seeding for the City Section Division I football playoffs with a 41-28 victory over Harbor City Narbonne.
Dion Willis rushed for 160 yards and Myles Johnson added 103 yards rushing. Carson (7-2, 3-0) can win the Marine League championship outright with a victory over San Pedro on Friday.
Considering the strength of the Marine League, Carson might have an advantage over Western League champion Venice in the competition for No. 2 seed behind unbeaten Los Angeles Crenshaw.
But that’s for the coaches to decide. The coaches from the league champions usually serve as the voters on the seeding committee.
