Baseball: Yelich brothers deliver victory for Westlake

Leave it up to the Yelich brothers to come through in the clutch for Westlake Village Westlake.
With the Warriors trailing Moorpark by one run going into their final at-bat, sophomore Collin Yelich contributed a game-tying RBI double and senior Christian Yelich had the game-winning RBI single with the bases loaded, two out and a 3-and-2 count to give the Warriors an 8-7 victory in their Marmonte League opener.
Calabasas opened Marmonte League play with a 4-2 win over Agoura. Simi Valley Royal hit four home runs and got 10 strikeouts in six innings from Cody Buckel to defeat rival Simi Valley, 8-1.
Encino Crespi defeated Reseda Cleveland, 19-10. Ryon Healy hit a grand slam. Josh Mason and Jack Colick also homered and Ryan Brockett had three hits for the Celts (5-2).
Coach Scott Muckey said Healy there was no news on Healy, who removed himself from the mound on Tuesday against Chaminade. ‘He felt something tighten, so he stopped,’ Muckey said. Healy played designated hitter Wednesday.
Granada Hills (3-3) defeated Sun Valley Poly, 3-2, with Mike Acosta throwing a six-hitter.
Verdugo Hills (2-4) defeated Eagle Rock, 11-1.Dusty Myers and Dave Northup hit three-run home runs.
