Get ready for lots of running clocks in the fourth quarter after a new mercy rule for football was passed by the CIF Federated Council.
If a team has a lead of 35 points or more at the end of three quarters, there will be a running clock until the end of the contest.
If a school wants to invoke a running clock prior to the start of the fourth quarter, they can do so by mutual agreement of both schools.
