Parents want a coach who understands his job is about teaching life lessons, and those associated with El Toro High should be proud of their 34-year-old football coach, Rob Frith. I was on the field at Angel Stadium Saturday after the team’s 35-28 loss to Tustin in the Southwest Division final.

Players were crying. Some were dispondent. Frith gathered everyone around.

‘Nobody has any reason to cry,’ he told them. ‘We’ve had a wonderful journey. You’re champions, too. You brought this program back. I’m proud of every single one of you. Keep your heads up and walk out like a champion.’
