Baseball: Johnson, Clark, Franca lead Riverside North

Riverside North, the defending Southern Section Division 1 baseball champion, relied on three key returns on Saturday to knock off Ontario Colony, 7-2, in the Redlands Invitational.
Jack Johnson threw a complete game, and Gabrial Franca and Gabriel Clark each went three for three. North is 2-0.
Orange Lutheran improved to 2-0 with an 11-9 victory over Alta Loma. Jason Martin had three of his team’s 15 hits. South Hills defeated Crescenta Valley, 7-3, getting a three-run triple from Ty France. Elliot Surrey had three hits for Crescenta Valley.
In the Southern California Invitational, Malibu defeated Sierra Canyon, 10-1. Paraclete defeated San Fernando, 6-5. Carlos Robles had two hits for the Tigers.
Granada Hills defeated Knight, 9-0. Collin Dudley threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Birmingham defeated Campbell Hall, 10-1. Daniel Rivas struck out seven in five innings. Manny Granillo had three RBIs.
Grace Brethren defeated San Marcos, 7-3. Jason Fine went four for four and Chad Woodard was three for three. Oxnard Pacifica defeated Taft, 9-6, despite a grand slam from Mike Colon.
