L.A. Jefferson finished 9-2 last season but wants to advance in the City Section Division II playoffs. The Democrats, under Coach David Wiltz, have one of the City Section’s best players in senior running back-linebacker Marcus Stamps, the returning Southern League MVP. He committed to San Diego State on Monday.
DaMarquis Longmire, a 6-foot-3 junior, also will support Stamps at running back and linebacker. He’s another potential college recruit.
Also back is lineman Jose Yanez (6-1, 270 pounds) and fullback Kevin Lazard.
