STREEP SHOT

“You sink aboud me adoll?”
That’s a pretty fair imitation of Meryl Streep saying, “You think about me at all?” in “Out of Africa.”
Streep’s a fine actress, but God, am I bored with her constant stream of accents. She’s done Danish, Polish, Southern (twice), English (twice) and probably others.
I’m beginning to feel as if she’s doing a female version of “The Rich Little Show”--see me do this accent, see me do that accent. Give us a break with the accents, Meryl.
And give me Jessica Lange anytime, in comparison. Lange’s portrayal of Patsy Cline in “Sweet Dreams” was ravishing, and--mark my words--she’s going to ravish the Academy voters, too, and walk right off with the Oscar this year. Wait and see.
