Quarterback Willie Totten of Mississippi Valley threw two touchdown passes to lead the Southwestern Athletic Conference All-Stars to a 16-14 victory over the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the Freedom Bowl All-Star game at Atlanta.
The SWAC defense preserved the victory by stopping Gilbert Renfroe of Tennessee State as he tried to run for a tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
Totten hit Mississippi Valley teammate Joe Thomas with a 25-yard touchdown pass and Connell Swain of Southern with a 21-yarder, both in the first quarter.
