Basketball standout Tito Horford asked an NCAA committee to restore his eligibility so that he can play for the University of Houston.

Also appealing an NCAA eligibility ruling was world-class sprinter Joe DeLoach, also of the University of Houston.

The committee, which actually is a subcommittee of the NCAA Council, met privately with the athletes. It will not make its decision known to the schools involved until after noon today and will not make its decision public until later in the day.
