Theroux, Evans Carry USD Women Over UCSD

SAN DIEGO — Debbie Theroux scored 20 points and Julie Evans added 14 Friday night to lead the University of San Diego to a 69-48 victory over UC San Diego in a nonconference women’s basketball game at the USD Sports Center.
USD (8-7) opened a 39-28 halftime lead and cruised to the victory, thanks in part to a 39-28 edge in rebounding. The Toreras play host to Nevada-Reno at 5 p.m. today in a West Coast Athletic Conference game.
USIU 107, Nevada-Reno 73--Sonya Carter scored 28 points and Daisy Mendes added 21 as the Gulls improved their WCAC record to 3-0 and season mark to 13-5 at Vista High School. The Gulls, who played without their leading scorer, Toya DeCree, led 47-32 at halftime and led by as many as 38 in the second half. The Gulls also shot 52.5% from the field.
Reno (2-1, 10-4) was led by Chris Starr, who scored 22 points.
