Television newswoman Christine Craft, still pursuing her legal battle against Kansas City station KMBC and Metromedia for demoting her in 1981 because she wasn’t attractive enough, began a new job as co-anchor for KRBK, a small Sacramento station. “I’m not a monster,” said Craft, 41. “I’m an OK-looking person. I’m aware that TV is a visual medium, but I don’t think you have to be a beauty queen to be on it.” Two juries have sided with her in her sex discrimination suit, but awards of $500,000 and $325,000 were overturned by federal judges.
