Pitcher Urbano Lugo of the Angels underwent surgery for the removal of a small bone fragment in his right elbow. The surgery was performed in the right-hander’s hometown of Caracas, Venezuela, and was termed successful, the Angels said.

Lugo, 23, who was 3-4 with the Angels last season, started 10 games and relieved in 10 others. He is expected to report with the pitchers and catchers to spring training at Mesa, Ariz., on Feb. 20.
