Eastern Airlines’ pilots set a Feb. 26 strike date.

Executives of the Air Line Pilots Assn. voted unanimously for the strike date and to send ballots on the proposal to the carrier’s 4,000 union pilots, according to a union spokesman. By law, the Miami-based airline’s pilots can strike after Feb. 25, following a 30-day “cooling off” period set Jan. 27, when the National Mediation Board declared an impasse in talks between pilots and the airline. The strike date was approved by the ALPA’s 27-member executive council, said Hank Weber, the union spokesman.
