WASHINGTON — Laos will permit a U.S. team of experts to enter the country next week and excavate the site of an Air Force AC-130 that crashed March 29, 1972, during the Vietnam War, the Pentagon said today.
The 11-member team will go into Laos on Monday and remain for about two weeks at the site in Savannakhet province in southern Laos. The excavation will be the second permitted by Laos within the last year.
