Villa Park : City Finds Liability Insurance Coverage
- Share via
The City of Villa Park, which had gone without insurance since mid-December, has found insurance and has liability coverage again.
City Manager Carolyn Veregge said the city was told Feb. 14 that its application to the Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority had been approved.
The authority is an insurance collective of about 50 cities, most of them in Los Angeles County.
Veregge said Villa Park will pay a premium of $8,000, with a deductible of $10,000, to be insured until June 30, the end of the collective’s fiscal year. The city must renew its policy with the collective at the end of the fiscal year.
The city lost its insurance at midnight Dec. 11 when its insurer, the Chicago Insurance Co., went out of the municipality coverage business.
