Packages in Lech

Since 1972 I have been going to Lech, Austria, annually for skiing. As a result, I greatly enjoyed the Stan Hollander article Feb. 2. However, the article was lacking in basic information. The article only hints at the vast land area and varied terrain that can be skied, covering several mountains and towns with intelligently connecting lifts. The great majority of hotels and pensions are 1-5 minutes’ walk from the lifts.
A few hotels and sample rates were provided but did not go far enough. What should have been mentioned are the packages that the Lech-Zurs area offers through almost all hotels and pensions. Before Christmas and after Easter the package rates are rock-bottom and are almost as low during the entire month of January. I stay at the Hotel Krone, the oldest hotel in Lech. Using the package, I receive seven nights’ room with private bath, three meals per day, a six-day lift ticket and five full days of lessons for only about $550. By staying at more simple accommodations, the price can be lowered considerably.
