Brea Girls Face Walnut in Semifinals

The top-seeded Brea High School girls’ basketball team will face Walnut at 7:30 tonight in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section 3-A playoffs at Diamond Bar.
The Wildcats (25-3) beat Esperanza, 69-51, in the quarterfinals Saturday night as forward Carrie Egan scored 22 points. Walnut’s record is 25-4.
Second-seeded Foothill (27-1) will play Louisville (25-4) at Tustin. The Knights’ 60-37 victory against Katella in the quarterfinals increased their steak of consecutive victories to 26 as center Chris McFerson had 18 points, 9 rebounds and 9 blocks.
Louisville advanced to tonight’s game by defeating Mission Viejo Saturday, 69-49. The Royals’ Andrea Knapp scored 22 points.
In the 1-A division, undefeated Connelly plays at Santa Clara (22-4). The Koalas (23-0) advanced to the semifinal by beating Charter Oak, 65-55. Guard Amy Vernatti and forward Cathy Casey each scored 20.
