The body of an unidentified man apparently in his late 60s was found Monday afternoon near the Interstate 8 eastbound on-ramp of Tavern Road in Alpine.
The victim, apparently a transient, was fully clothed except for shoes, said Sgt. Rick Figueroa of the Sheriff’s homicide detail.
He was found about 1:30 p.m. by a trucker parked in the area, Figueroa said. There were minor cuts and abrasions on the man’s head.
