Richard H. Close, president of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn., announced Tuesday that he will not run for the 43rd District Assembly seat being vacated by Gray Davis (D-Los Angeles).
Close had been considered a prime Valley candidate for the seat, which includes Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Encino and parts of the Westside. Close, a lawyer, said he decided not to enter the race for family and professional reasons.
“It’s too difficult watching your children grow up while you’re sitting in Sacramento,” Close said.
The filing deadline for the seat is today.
