Ten-year-old Frankie Gonzalez died of bone cancer, the sixth youngster to die from various types of cancer in the Kern County community of McFarland in the last decade. Citizens, concerned that there might be a single cause for the different cancers, persuaded state and county health officials to make a study of a dozen childhood cancer cases in the community. The study has not yet been completed.
