Actor-singer Rudy Vallee is alert, sitting up and taking solid food for the first time in six weeks, his agent said. Chris Harris also reported that the entertainer is receiving 50 to 100 letters a day from fans, ranging from high school students to those who danced to his music 60 years ago. Vallee, 85, is in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after developing pneumonia and then suffering a stroke.
