The bloody clothing worn by the two police officers and a woman shot by Sagon Penn was shown to the jury Tuesday afternoon in Penn’s murder trial.

Criminalist Sharon Lynch identified the blood-stained shirt, bulletproof vest and pants that were cut off Donovan Jacobs, 27, after Penn shot him in the neck on March 31, 1985, in Encanto.

Lynch said she couldn’t find any gunpowder residue on Jacobs’ clothes because of the numerous blood, grass and dirt stains.

After Lynch began a detailed comparison of the bullets fired and how it was determined that they come from Jacobs’ gun, defense attorney Milton Silverman agreed with the prosecution to a stipulation that the bullets were fired from the officer’s weapon.

Penn, 24, of Encanto, is accused of wrestling Jacobs’ gun away from him and wounding Jacobs and Sara Pina-Ruiz, 33, a civilian riding in the police ride-along program, and killing Agent Thomas Riggs.
