College Swimming : Dellota Wins 3, Leads Saddleback

Kim Dellota qualified for the state community college championships in three events Friday afternoon as Saddleback College (6-0) defeated Rancho Santiago, 65-38, in South Coast Conference men’s swimming action.
Dellota won the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.53), the 200 butterfly (1:58.75) and the 200 breaststroke (2:08.16). Rhett Chee Ping also won three events. His time in the 500 freestyle (4:44.44), and the 200 freestyle (1.44.76) also were state qualifying times. He also won the 100 freestyle (50.69).
Saddleback 72, Rancho Santiago 50 (Women)--Kari Irvin won the 500 (5:30.68) and the 200 freestyle (2:02.82) and the 100 butterfly (1:07.52) for the Gauchos. Wendy Colonnese also was a double winner for Saddleback. She won the 50 and 100 freestyle.
In other South Coast Conference action:
Orange Coast 68, Cypress 44 (Women)--Paula Perry won three individual events and was part of a winning relay team to lead the Pirates (5-0) to their 40th consecutive win over five years. She won the 50 and 100 breaststroke and the 100 individual medley.
Coast 50, Cypress 20 (Men)--Rick Haddad set a school record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:02.62 to lead the Pirates (4-1).
