College Softball : Rancho Santiago Retains Lead With 2-1 Win

Rancho Santiago College defeated Fullerton, 2-1, Friday afternoon to remain one game ahead of Golden West in South Coast Conference softball play.
The host Dons (6-0, 25-4) scored twice in the fourth inning. Laura Janzen tripled to drive in Lee Bladlow, who had singled. Janzen later scored on an error.
Kim Martin (14-1) gave up a run in the top of the seventh but won. In other South Coast Conference action:
Golden West 1, Orange Coast 0--Dana Ramos singled, moved to second on an error and scored on Gail Russell’s single for the Rustlers (5-1, 17-3). Stephanie Rollette (9-1) pitched a two-hitter for the win.
Cerritos 1, Cypress 0, (eight innings)--Leslie Dayton doubled, was sacrificed to third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kim Larson for the Falcons (4-2, 18-6). Karen Nakamaru (11-4) was the losing pitcher for the Chargers (2-4, 21-10).
