LONDON — South Korean President Chun Doo Hwan, on a four-nation trip to establish closer ties with Europe, had lunch Tuesday with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
Chun was to meet Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher later in the day at a dinner in his honor at her official residence at 10 Downing St.
As Chun went to the palace for a private lunch with the queen, government officials and business executives in the South Korean delegation met with their British counterparts to explore areas of closer cooperation, particularly in manufacturing.
