KLM ordered six new Boeing 747-400 airliners.

Boeing valued the sale at about $900 million. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines became the first European airline to order the ultra-long range jets, which are scheduled for delivery in 1989 and 1990. They will be used to replace 747-200s that KLM purchased in the early 1970s.
