Prep All-American center Scott Williams of Wilson High in Hacienda Heights is one of two Californians who will play in the McDonald’s All-America Basketball Classic on Friday at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Williams, who averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead Wilson to the state Division II championship, will be joined in the game by Stevie Thompson of Crenshaw.
Williams scored 10 points for the South U. S. all-stars in a 96-94 victory over the North in the annual Dapper Dan Roundball Classic in Pittsburgh last week. Stacey Augmon of Muir High in Pasadena scored 13.
Mt. San Antonio College Memorial Stadium in Walnut will be the site for the Ford-Converse California Community College Track and Field Championships on May 16 and 17.
It is the first time since 1980 that the state championship meet will be held in Southern California.
