A proposal to curb the construction of high-rise buildings sided with reflective glass was offered by Los Angeles Councilman Marvin Braude. “High-rise buildings constructed with reflective materials on their exterior walls create reflective glare for motorists,” Braude said in his motion. “This can be hazardous when the glare is in the direct line of sight of motorists, temporarily blinding drivers for several seconds.” Braude’s proposal, which was sent to a council committee for review, would launch an investigation by city building inspectors on how to diminish the glare factor of future buildings.
