County Building Permits for February Showed Rise

Construction activity in the areas served by the Los Angeles County Building and Safety Division totaled $127,561,880 (2,112 permits) in February, well above the $80,099,590 (1,707 permits) for February, 1985, and the $74,154,100 for the 10-year February average.
The division covers the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as 26 incorporated cities.
Forty-two permits were issued for projects exceeding $500,000 in valuation, 18 for apartments or condominiums and 19 for industrial or commercial. The largest permit, valued at $6 million, was for a restaurant-motel complex near Gorman.
La Puente led the list of unincorporated areas for building activity in February, with valuation of $21,316,400, followed by the Santa Clarita Valley, $15,841,270; the Antelope Valley, $15,287,040, and San Dimas, $11,346,610. Santa Fe Springs and Agoura Hills topped the incorporated cities list, with valuations of $7,146,890 and $5,756,160, respectively.
