School Damaged in Arson Blaze

Arson is suspected in a fire that broke out in the teachers’ lounge of Jackson Elementary School Sunday and caused an estimated $40,000 in damage.
San Diego Fire Department spokesman Robert Drake said there were no injuries in the 4 p.m. fire, which was contained to the lounge. He said there was evidence of a break-in at the school at 4365 54th St., and arson is suspected.
It is the second school fire in less than a month in the area. In late March, an arson blaze at Crawford High School, 4191 Colts Way, caused about $125,000 in damage.
The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating whether there is a connection between the two fires.
