North Hollywood 4, Grant 1--It’s not often two teams face each other twice in the same week, but North Hollywood High right-hander Mark Eubanks was glad he had a second chance against Grant.
On Monday, Eubanks went the distance and allowed no earned runs but lost on a day his team made eight errors.
Thursday was a different story. Eubanks (5-2) struck out five and scattered seven hits, and the Huskies made it stand up in the East Valley League victory at Grant.
Grant opened a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the second inning on back-to-back errors. North Hollywood right fielder Doug Williams dropped Donny Hussey’s wind-blown fly ball, and second baseman Dan Bateman misplayed a grounder by Harlan Berk to put runners at first and third with one out. David Waco then singled home Hussey.
The Huskies came back with two in the third and two in the fourth off sophomore Juan Doroteo (0-1).
North Hollywood is 10-3, 6-3 in league. Grant is 13-4 and 7-3.
