Three North County men have been indicted on conspiracy and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, the U.S. attorney’s office announced Wednesday.
Named in the indictment are Robert Brandon Shemwell, 38, of Escondido; Robert Leroy Angel, 35, of San Marcos, and Clifford Leroy Teague, 39, of San Marcos.
The men were arrested April 9, and each faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. They are to be arraigned this morning before U.S. Magistrate Roger C. McKee.
Angel was ordered last week by McKee to remain in custody without bail. Shemwell is free on $75,000 bond and Teague is free on $50,000 bond.
The indictment alleges that Shemwell sold small quantities of methamphetamine to a Drug Enforcement Administration undercover agent twice, then negotiated a deal with the agent for the sale of 15 pounds of the drug for $10,000 a pound.
