4 Protesters Leave Test Site After Nuclear Blast

LAS VEGAS — Four protesters who said they infiltrated the Nevada Test Site in an unsuccessful attempt to delay a large underground nuclear blast left the desert compound Wednesday but promised to return.
Roy Young of Boulder, Colo., a member of the Rocky Mountain Peace Center, said he and three other members of the group sneaked onto the test site early Tuesday and left the facility Wednesday morning.
U.S. scientists detonated “Jefferson,” a high-powered weapons test of between 20 and 150 kilotons at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
