Holman in Top Spot for Bowling Finals

AKRON, Ohio — Marshall Holman edged Del Warren by 20 pins after the sixth round Friday night to earn the top spot for today’s finals of the Firestone Tournament of Champions.
Holman, a 19-time Professional Bowlers Assn. champion from Medford, Ore., needs to win just one more game today to claim the top prize of $50,000--the richest in PBA history.
He earned the top position despite a 223-209 loss to Warren in the final game of the sixth round. Holman, 31, finished the 48-game format with a pinfall total of 11,008.
Warren, of Lake Worth, Fla., won all eight match games Friday night to vault from 10th place to second with 10,988.
