Rexon Inc., Culver City, named Michael O. Preletz chief executive. He was hired at Rexon in January, 1985, when Hambrecht & Quist, the San Francisco-based high-tech venture capital company, made a major investment in Rexon. He became president and chief operating officer in July.

As chief executive, he replaces Q. T. Wiles, who remains chairman. Wiles, 71, is also chairman of Hambrecht & Quist Group.

Additionally, Glenn O. Maddalon was named president of Rexon’s Wangtek tape drive subsidiary.
