San Diego College Baseball, Softball : USD Scores 10 in First, Rolls to 28-2 Victory

SAN DIEGO — University of San Diego designated hitter Dave Rolls hit a grand slam and three doubles, driving in eight runs, to lead the Toreros past Master’s College, 28-2, Monday in a nonconference baseball game at USD.
USD (23-21-2) scored 10 runs in the first inning, with a single, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored by John Bonilla. USD’s Robbie Rogers was 4 for 5 with two triples and Mark Trafton was 4 for 4 with six RBIs.
In softball:
United States International University 1-1, Cal Poly Pomona 3-3--Cal Poly’s Rhonda Wheatley (25-11) went the distance in both games, including the 14-inning opener, as the Broncos (30-13-1) swept the nonconference softball doubleheader from the host Gulls (20-20). In the opener, the Broncos snapped a scoreless tie with three runs in the 14th for the win.
