A San Francisco police officer who was the victim of a highly publicized sex prank in 1984 has been arrested on suspicion of beating a handcuffed prisoner. Officer Michael Caplan, 24, was accused of striking a drug suspect who reportedly became abusive and spat on officers. Caplan, who was awarded a medal of valor for heroism on duty a year ago, was the victim of a prank that led to the firing of four fellow officers in 1984. Witnesses said that during a party, the officers got Caplan drunk, handcuffed him to a chair and watched while a prostitute orally copulated him.
