A grand jury has indicted the president of Westfield State College on four counts of indecent assault and battery stemming from a complaint by a student who received a controversial $10,000 settlement from the school. Francis J. Pilecki, 52, did not appear for arraignment on the indictment returned by a grand jury in Springfield, Mass., because he is hospitalized for “serious depression,” said his lawyer, Robert Keefe. Judge Lawrence J. Urbano agreed to postpone Pilecki’s arraignment until July 9, and Keefe said his client will plead innocent.
