Taxes, Charity and the Downtown YMCA

In more than 30 years of involvement in the YMCA, I have yet to find a single stockholder making a profit from the YMCA’s service to the community.
Isn’t there room in each community of this great city for one organization whose bottom line motivation is the well-being of all persons, regardless of their economic condition? One YMCA and 10 to 15 private clubs per community doesn’t sound like unfair competition to me.
