HARD SEATS

It is time that the Hollywood Bowl seating be brought into the 20th Century. For most patrons the seating consists of hard, dirty slabs of wood.
This may have been acceptable in 1938 when the wood was new, but it’s not for today’s music lovers. Even box-seat patrons are furnished with old directors chairs that have questionable support.
Seating changes have been made for the public at the Greek Theater and the Coliseum. New seats are long overdue for the world-famous Bowl.
After all, $30 for two should entitle music lovers to something more than a night on a dirty, old, uncomfortable, sliver-laden piece of wood.

According to a Hollywood Bowl spokesman, half of the Bowl’s seating area was replaced with brand new cedar benches last winter and the other half will be replaced this winter.
