Empire Films Chairman Charles Band has found a way to beat the high cost of film making. He’s just purchased Castello di Giove, a 140-room 12th-Century castle 30 miles northeast of Rome.
Empire wouldn’t comment on the purchase price, but Debra Dion, a company vice-president, quipped, “It was the cheapest house on the block.” Empire began shooting “Spellcaster,” a horror movie featuring Adam Ant, in the castle earlier this month. Says Dion: “We’re looking for any script set in a castle, except for musicals. There’s too many echoes in the castle for people to go around singing.”
